It seems Joe Flacco wasn’t always getting pumped up during Ray Lewis‘ famous pregame speeches. In fact, sometimes he had to stop and laugh at them.
Flacco admitted on Saturday he thought the speeches were funny at times — especially when he didn’t quite understand what Lewis was getting at.
“Oh, it’s funny,” Flacco told USA Today. “His speeches come from the heart, but there’s definitely times where I’m sitting there kind of chuckling to myself. It’s all good. There’s nobody that’s more passionate about what he does than that guy.
“So you just sit back and take it all in, but there’s times where he says some stuff and you’re like, ‘Man I don’t know what that meant, but I like how he said it.’”
So it appears we were not alone in laughing at Lewis’ passion and occasional lack of coherency during his pregame ritual. Flacco said he would not be taking over for Lewis in the middle of the field before games (surprise, surprise). If Flacco tried to imitate Lewis’ speech or squirrel dance, then we would all collectively have something to laugh at.
