Boston Red Sox executive vice president/general manager Ben Cherington announced a pair of roster moves on Friday.
The club has optioned catcher Ryan Lavarnway and left-handed pitcher Drake Britton to the Pawtucket Red Sox, the team’s Triple-A affiliate.
Boston has 30 players in big league camp following the Britton and Lavarnway moves. That includes 25 active players from the 40-man roster, five non-roster invitees, and two players on the disabled list.
The Red Sox will play their final spring training game Saturday against the Minnesota Twins before opening up the 2014 regular season on March 31 in Baltimore.
