David Ortiz To Host Seventh Annual Celebrity Golf Classic In Dominican Republic

David OrtizThe seventh annual David Ortiz Celebrity Golf Classic will take place Dec. 4-7 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the slugger announced on his official website Thursday.

The event, which raises funds to provide critical pediatric health care for those in the Dominican Republic as well as throughout New England, benefits the David Ortiz’s Children’s Fund and its partnership with the World Pediatric Project and Massachusetts General Hospital for Children.

Many baseball stars have attended the event in the past, with Dustin Pedroia, Pedro Martinez, Mariano Rivera, Adam Jones and Tim Wakefield, among other, all participating over the years.

“Every year it is great to see the incredible generosity from everyone who gets involved,” Ortiz said, via his website. “We always have a great time for sure, but everyone is also there to help support the cause, helping the children in need in both my home country of the Dominican Republic and my adopted home in Boston.”

The tournament will be played at the Punta Espada course. To date, the event has raised approximately $1.5 million.
