Terrell SuggsTerrell Suggs might believe his hit on LeGarrette Blount was perfectly OK, but the NFL doesn’t think so.

The league fined the Ravens linebacker $8,268 for a controversial tackle he made Sunday night on the Pittsburgh Steelers running back, an NFL spokesman told The Baltimore Sun.

Blount was doing his best not to be brought down on the play when Suggs came from behind and made contact on the running back’s legs. Steelers fans weren’t happy with the hit, and Suggs engaged in a shouting match with several Pittsburgh players after the play.

Suggs was penalized for unnecessary roughness, and after the game, Blount complained about the hit, pointing out that the linebacker is known to be a dirty player. Steelers linebacker James Harrison said Suggs had intent to injure Blount.

Meanwhile, Suggs defended his play, saying he believed Blount was still running and he was just trying to make a play.

The Ravens lost the game, 43-23.
