There’s no word on any closure to Deflategate yet, but apparently some progress was made during Wednesday’s settlement conference between Tom Brady and the NFL in New York.

Brady left the court house at 5:20 p.m., signaling the end of the NFL and NFL Players Association’s meeting with District Court Judge Richard Berman.

“We won’t be making a formal statement other than to say we had a productive day in court,” NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith said, via NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. “We’ll get back to work on the issue.”

Berman is urging the two sides to settle out of court. The NFL and NFLPA are set to meet again next Wednesday for another conference with Berman in New York. If the two sides can’t reach a deal, then Berman will decide on the case by Sept. 4 — six days before the Patriots open the NFL season on “Thursday Night Football” against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It appeared as though Wednesday was a good day for Brady, as Berman grilled NFL lawyer Daniel Nash about the league’s investigation into Deflategate.

Brady left the court house smiling.
