We’ve all seen Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt catch touchdowns. On Saturday, we almost saw him run for one.

With the Texans struggling to get anything going offensively during the first half of their wild-card playoff matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, Houston coach Bill O’Brien decided to line arguably the NFL’s best defensive player up at quarterback on a first-and-goal from the 2-yard line.

Watt took the shotgun snap and, with 325-pound defensive tackle Vince Wilfork serving as his fullback, attempted to bull-rush his way through the Chiefs’ defense.

He didn’t get far.

Watt did not fare any worse than Houston’s actual quarterback, though.

Brian Hoyer threw three interceptions in the first half, including one in the end zone one play after Watt’s bid for the goal line, and the Texans entered the locker room trailing 13-0. The Chiefs won 30-0.
