BOSTON — Still waiting for David Ortiz to slow down? Don’t hold your breath.
The Red Sox designated hitter, in his final Major League Baseball season, entered Saturday’s game against the Houston Astros sporting a .309 batting average with nine home runs and 30 RBIs in 36 games.
That home run number changed to double digits in the third inning, when Ortiz crushed a Collin McHugh cutter into the Fenway Park bleachers.

Big Papi’s 10th home run of the season gave him 513 on his career, moving him past legendary hitters Ernie Banks and Eddie Matthews for 22nd on MLB’s all-time homer list.
Ortiz’s historic blast also traveled pretty darn far.
Ortiz now sits directly behind Red Sox legend Ted Williams on the career homer list. The Splendid Splinter hit 521 career long balls, tied with Frank Thomas and Willie McCovey for 19th all-time.
