Wrigley Field-Area Bars Charging Insane Prices Just To Watch World Series

Watching the 2016 World Series at a bar near Wrigley Field won’t be a cheap outing for baseball fans.

DNAInfo.com reported Wednesday that bars around Wrigley Field are charging eye-popping admission fees to watch the Chicago Cubs play the Cleveland Indians on their televisions in this year’s Fall Classic.

Many are hosting watch parties for Games 3, 4 and 5, with entrance prices as high as $250 per person — a steep increase on costs to attend similar events surrounding the National League Championship Series. Table reservations at Deuces and The Diamond Club, John Barleycorn and Old Crow Smokehouse cost $500, according to DNAInfo.com.

However, these figures don’t come without perks. Included in the $250 admission to Saturday’s watch party at HVAC Pub are all-you-can eat pizza and wings, plus beer, well drinks and wine. Other bars sell standing room tickets for $40.

Amid all the price spikes, some establishments are foregoing cover and table charges but they seem to be exceptions to the norm.

As CBSSports.com points out, ticket prices to the actual games range from $3,000 to $6,000 on secondary markets.

For most fans, the easiest way to enjoy the World Series near Wrigley Field is to stand outside the stadium and listen on radio like it’s 1945.
