Despitel countless reports regarding Rob Gronkowski’s health leaking Monday, New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick still wasn’t willing to comment on the diagnosis of his star player’s ailing knee.

All things considered, the consensus seems to be that Gronk avoided a season-ending injury. But as all of New England takes a collective sigh of relief (and probably an aspirin), it’s important to remember that just because the All-Pro tight end isn’t lost for the year doesn’t mean he’s going to be perfectly healthy, either.

“I mean we’re not even 24 hours after the game,” Belichick said on a conference call Monday. “Look, I know everybody wants an instant analysis, but I think it’s more important to be right than to jump in and start talking about a lot of stuff that’s inaccurate.

“We always hope for the best for all of our players. I mean that will never change. Our players work hard and give us everything they got. I hate to see anything happen to anybody. So, of course, we’re hoping for the best.”

The best is about all Gronk and the Patriots can hope for at this point. For now, they’ll just have to do their best without him.
