Fourteen-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps' SUV was struck in an intersection in Baltimore on Thursday night, The Baltimore Sun reports.

According to the report, a female driver of a Honda Accord sped through a red light and collided with Phelps' Cadillac Escalade. Phelps and his two passengers were not injured.

Late Friday afternoon, The Associated Press reported that Phelps was cited for failing to possess a valid license. The report also said that Phelps admitted to drinking a beer about 75 minutes prior to driving.

Phelps, who was cited in 2004 for driving under the influence, was not given a breathalyzer test.

"There was no need," police spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi told the newspaper. "He was completely coherent. He was cooperating with police. We have a witness statement as to what occurred."

The official police report has not yet been made public.
