The New York pitching staff was too much for the Delaware bats as the South Shore National squad won the Mid-Atlantic semifinal game by a score of 7-1 on Thursday afternoon in Bristol, Conn.

With a 1-0 lead and one down in the third inning, New York's Joe Ruggierello hit a solo home run to right field. Later that inning, with two out and one on, Nick Pucciarelli hit a two-run shot to give the New Yorkers a 4-0 lead.

New York's pitchers picked up 14 strike outs on the day, meaning just four outs were made by the New York defense.

Middletown, Odessa, Townsend (M.O.T.) — the Delaware state champs — were led by Jude Kurych, who hit an RBI double off the left-field wall to score Bryan Machamer with the team's first and only run.
