The kids from Peabody, Mass., knew they weren't advancing to the next round of the Little League World Series when they took the field on Tuesday, but that didn't stop them from going out with a bang.

Peabody exploded for nine runs in the third inning en route to a 12-3 win over Russellville, Ky.

Austin Batchelor pitched five innings to pick up the win, giving up three runs, none of which were earned, on three hits and two walks. He struck out seven batters before Michael Petrosino came on to strike out the side in the sixth.

Batchelor was no slouch at the dish, either, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored as he hit the only home run of the game. Matt Hosman contributed with a pair of RBIs, as did Matt Gonick.

The win gives Peabody a 1-2 record in pool play. They lost to the team from Chula Vista, Calif., which has looked to be the favorite to advance to the title game for the United States, and the team from San Antonio.
