Yankees Banged Up as They Head West Winners of nine of their last 10 games — including a win Wednesday, courtesy of a walk-off hit by Robinson Cano — the Yankees are riding high.

With a six-game cushion (pending Wednesday night's results) in the AL East, the Yanks appear to be on top of the world. A few bumps and bruises, combined with a trip to the West Coast, may knock them down a notch or two over the coming week.

After topping the Blue Jays again, the Yankees next head to Seattle for four games and Oakland for three games before heading to Boston for a three-game weekend series on Aug. 21-23.

They'll have to make it through that stretch with nagging injuries or minor bruises to Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez and Jorge Posada, according to The LoHud Yankees Blog.

Rivera, who earned his 33rd save of the year Tuesday night, has a sore right shoulder, according to the report, but is expected to be available to pitch.

Jeter left Wednesday's game after being hit in the foot by a pitch. Yankees manager Joe Girardi was hesitant to say that the captain would be in the lineup on Thursday.

A-Rod was hit in the elbow by a pitch on Wednesday and underwent X-rays after the game, which were negative. Rodriguez was scheduled for a day off on Thursday, and Girardi told the blog that he hopes A-Rod will return on Friday.

Posada had a rough day behind the plate on Wednesday, when Yankees pitchers combined for four wild pitches (starter A.J. Burnett had three). A foul ball also hit Posada in his bare right hand.
