Belichick Declines to Sound Off on Seymour Trade Everybody seems ready to sound off on the Richard Seymour-to-the-Raiders trade: Tom Brady, Rodney Harrison, the media, the fans.

Everyone, of course, except Bill Belichick. Shocker.

According to ESPN.com, the Patriots coach refused to comment on the trade during a conference call on Tuesday because the team no longer has the rights to Seymour. He did praise the five-time Pro Bowler as a player, but he declined to get into specifics regarding the reasons he was traded just before the start of the 2009 season.

Belichick also did not address whether or not the deal was finalized after Seymour failed to report to his new team on Monday.

Seymour, who was selected by New England with the sixth overall pick in the 2001 draft, registered 227 tackles throughout his eight-year career with the Patriots. In exchange for him, New England received a first-round selection in the 2011 draft.
