Vladimir Sobotka Assigned to Providence Bruins

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli announced on Wednesday afternoon that 22-year-old center Vladimir Sobotka will start the 2009-10 campaign in Providence.

Sobotka was selected by Boston in the fourth round of the 2005 draft and has split the past two seasons between Boston and Providence. He has appeared in 73 regular-season games for the Bruins and has registered two goals and 10 assists. With the P-Bruins, he has registered 30 goals and 34 assists for 64 total points.

In seven games with the Bruins during the 2009 preseason, Sobotka had one goal and one assist.

The Bruins begin the 2009-10 campaign on Thursday against the Capitals.
