Just days after being released by New England, Prescott Burgess is back in Foxborough.

Boston.com reports that the linebacker, who was dispatched on Monday to make room for Terdell Sands, is back as a member of the practice squad. Defensive lineman Adrian Grady was released to make room on the roster.

In his news conference on Tuesday, head coach Bill Belichick hinted that he was seeking a way to keep both Sands and Burgess. Sands was acquired on Sept. 22 in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick.

"Well, Terdell is a player that we wanted to add onto the roster and we needed to make a spot for it," Belichick said earlier this week. "Prescott, who we liked and wanted to work with, and still would like to work with, is the most available option to create a roster spot to bring Sands onto the team. So that's basically what it came down to."

In 2007, Burgess played in eight games for Baltimore and then spent last season on injured reserve with a  hip problem. He spent the first two games of the 2009 season with Baltimore.

Sands, 29, spent the last five seasons in Oakland and has 95 tackles, 4.0 sacks and two fumble recoveries in 76 games.
