Report: Sooners' Sam Bradford Likely to Undergo Season-Ending Surgery When Sam Bradford went down early in the first quarter of Oklahoma's loss to Texas on Saturday, the Sooners hoped his injured shoulder would only KO him for a couple of weeks.

Unfortunately, their hopes won't be realized.

According to ESPN.com, there is a "very good chance" the reigning Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback will soon announce his plans to undergo season-ending surgery.

Bradford was scheduled to partake in a press conference on Wednesday evening but canceled it because he wants time to gather more information.

During the first game of the 2009 season, Bradford sprained the AC joint in his throwing shoulder and missed a month. He aggravated the shoulder again when he was sacked by Texas cornerback Aaron Williams on Saturday in the Sooners' 16-13 loss to the No. 3 Longhorns.

Bradford has already been ruled out of Saturday's matchup at Kansas, but head coach Bob Stoops told ESPN.com that he is taking time to assess his options.

Although Bradford may have been the top quarterback prospect over both Mark Sanchez and Matthew Stafford in last year's NFL draft — he threw for 4,720 yards and 50 touchdowns in 2008 — he chose to return to Oklahoma for his junior season.
