After straining his hamstring running to first base in Game 4 of the World Series, Yankees center fielder Melky Cabrera might be forced to miss the remainder of the Fall Classic, the Journal News reports.

Brian Cashman told the Journal News on Monday that team doctors will evaluate Cabrera to find out the severity of his injury. There is a chance Cabrera suffered a full hamstring tear, which will allow the Yankees to make a move on their World Series roster.

According to MLB rules, the Yankees can petition to change their roster if they believe Cabrera won't be available for the rest of the series.

Potential candidates to replace Cabrera would be Francisco Cervelli, Freddy Guzman, Ramiro Pena and Sergio Mitre. Cervelli and Guzman are the only two that have been on the postseason roster at some point this season.

Cabrera is 2-for-13 (.154) in the World Series. He went 9-for-23 (.391) with four RBIs in the ALCS against the Angels, and went 2-for-12 (.167) against the Twins in the ALDS.
