So too much of a good thing is a bad thing, and history has proved this in Boston. One NESN.com reader hopes that if and when Mike Lowell gets dealt, the team can rally in his absence.
“Remember the year the Sox had too much pitching and traded Bronson to Cincy for willy Mo?. Then the wheels feel off the pitching staff. So now the Sox have too many 3rd basemen, 1st basemen and DHs. So let’s get rid of reliable Mike Lowell. So after we give him away, Ortiz fails to hit the first 3 months of the season like last year, Beltre hits the way he did in Seattle, which was not as good as Lowell, coming off of hip surgery. And Theo and the rest of the Sox brass sit there and say “wish we still had Lowell.”
