Zdeno Chara Suffers Broken Nose From Alexander Semin's High Stick The Bruins held an optional practice with limited players on the ice Tuesday following their tough 3-2 overtime loss to the Capitals.

According to NESN reporter Naoko Funayama, the biggest news was that captain Zdeno Chara suffered a broken nose on the high stick he took from Alexander Semin on Monday night — an infraction that went uncalled, despite Chara's nose bleeding on the ice. Chara was having repairs made on Tuesday.

Also of note was that defenseman Dennis Seidenberg tested his stitched-up wrist again but was limited to light shooting. His wrist was slashed by a skate blade Saturday in Toronto. Fellow rear guard Andrew Ference, who has been out since March 25 with a hernia and groin problems, also skated, but he said he doesn't expect to be back until at least the playoffs if the Bruins can hold on and make the postseason.

The Bruins will take on the Northeast Division-leading Buffalo Sabres on Thursday at the TD Garden. They then close the season with a back-to-back, hosting Carolina in a 1 p.m. matinee Saturday and then playing another matinee in Washington on Sunday at 12:30. The Bruins are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference and lead the Flyers by a point. Philadelphia plays Toronto on Tuesday. The Bruins also trail the Canadiens, who play the Islanders on Tuesday, by a point.
