The Red Sox are shuffling their roster around.

With Josh Beckett on the DL and everyday shortstop Marco Scutaro out for a couple of days, the Red Sox called up Triple-A Pawtucket shortstop Angel Sanchez on Thursday. In a corresponding move, the team designated left-handed reliever Scott Schoeneweis for assignment.

Sanchez, 26, is hitting .313 with nine RBIs in 36 games for the PawSox this year. He’s made eight major league appearances, all with the Royals in 2006, where he hit .222.

Sanchez will be filling in for Scutaro while he misses his second game after receiving a cortisone shot in his non-throwing elbow on Tuesday.

Schoeneweis signed as a minor league free agent on March 26 and went 1-0 with a 7.90 ERA in 15 appearances coming out of the bullpen.
