As NESN.com noted in Mike Lowell's first rehab start for Pawtucket last week, the veteran wasn't exactly swinging for the fences. He was apparently swinging a bit harder on Tuesday.

In his first three at-bats on Tuesday night in Toledo, Ohio, where Lowell got the start at third base, the veteran smacked three home runs. Batting third in the lineup, Lowell drove in five runs, increased his average to .444 in four games and helped lead the PawSox to a 10-6 win.

With teams reportedly losing interest in acquiring Lowell's services for the final two months of the season, Lowell offered some positive signs on Tuesday night that he could be able to join the Red Sox on Friday and contribute in Boston.
