The psychic octopus has made some enemies in Argentina.

Argentina soccer fans, angry after the team’s elimination from the World Cup, want vengeance against the octopus who predicted the loss, the Telegraph reports.

The German octopus, Paul, correctly predicted that Germany would beat Argentina in the quarterfinals of the World Cup and has since received numerous death threats from disgruntled Argentina fans threatening to eat him.

"There are always people who want to eat our octopus, but he is not shy and we are here to protect him as well. He will survive," said Paul’s keeper, Oliver Walenciak.

Paul first started predicting soccer winners two years ago during the European Championships. He makes his picks by choosing between containers filled with mussels, each donning a flag that represents a different nation competing in the World Cup.

So far, he’s been correct for all six of Germany’s 2010 World Cup matches.

Most recently, Paul chose Spain to beat his home nation Germany, in a move that Walenciak hoped was wrong.

"In the European Cup he got one game wrong," he said. "It was the final between Germany and Spain, and he picked Germany which was wrong, and this time he has picked Spain, so we are thinking he must be wrong again."

Unfortunately for Germany, Paul was right again. Spain beat Germany 1-0 on Wednesday.
