Test Your Knowledge About Red Sox No-Hitters The 2010 MLB season has been called the Year of the Pitcher. There
have been five no-hitters — six if you forget about Jim Joyce
and there are still 60 games to play.

John Lackey took a no-hit bid into the eighth inning nearly a
week ago in Seattle before it was broken up. Right now, no-hitters are
becoming old hat.

It wasn't always like that, though.

In the long history of the Red Sox, the team has had 18 no-hitters, half
of which came in a 14-year stretch between 1904 and 1918. Hideo Nomo
broke a streak of 35 straight seasons without a Boston no-hitter in his
first start of the 2001 season.

Since Nomo’s no-no, three more Red Sox hurlers have accomplished the
feat, with the most recent coming in 2008. That 2008 no-hitter was the
pitcher's first of his career, and it was also the first complete game
and shutout of his career, as well.
