Miami Dolphins Running Back Patrick Cobbs Looking out for Injured Teammate Kory Sheets When Miami Dolphins running back Kory Sheets went down with a torn left Achilles' tendon in training camp on Wednesday, his teammate Patrick Cobbs had a flash of deja vu.

It was just last season that Cobbs himself suffered a season-ending injury, when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in Week 5 against the New York Jets.

Cobbs, a running back and kick returner like Sheets, is feeling confident to be back in full force from his injury. Sheets was brought in midway through last season to help fill the gap left by the injured Cobbs, and now that Sheets has gone down for the remainder of the season, Cobbs is taking it upon himself to support his teammate in whatever way he can during his recovery process.

"You hate when something like that happens," Cobbs told the Palm Beach Post. "It stinks. You just have to try to be with that guy, and if he needs something let him know you'll be there."

To start training camp, Cobbs has been receiving most of the kicks early on, with head coach Tony Sparano testing out a few other players as back-up. Sheets was one of those options.

Sheets, a 25-year-old Connecticut native, was running through a non-contact drill when he felt the pop in his left ankle. He fell to the ground in pain, and was barely able to limp off the field to the trainer's room. When Cobbs saw his teammate go down, he knew he had to support him through his rehab and help him work toward returning next season.

Cobbs especially wants to help with the mental aspect of the injury, since that is normally the most difficult factor to overcome when stricken with a major setback such as an Achilles' tear.

"I think emotionally I was more hurt than physically at the time because I knew it was probably going to be a long, lingering deal," Cobbs said.

This season would have been Sheets' first full year in the NFL, and the former Purdue star played two games for the Dolphins last season.
