Carl Edwards’ success in the Nationwide Series continued Saturday, as he finished fourth at the Campingworld.com 300 at the Auto Club Speedway.

Edwards, who was second in the Nationwide standings as of Saturday, led three laps on the way to what was his 18th top-five finish and 23rd top-10 finish through the series’ first 30 races. Kyle Busch, who entered the race in third place, finished first, while Nationwide series leader Brad Keselowski came in second.

After facing some adversity early in the race, Edwards credited his crew for his late success.

“At the end we came on strong after a couple of really strong pit stops,” Edwards said.

“My crew was amazing today. I thought that we could hang on to third but I was driving for everything I had, and that was it. We came home fourth and I’m very proud of that.”

Edwards had the strongest finish of the five Roush Fenway drivers who participated in the race. Trevor Bayne and Paul Menard, who were both in the top 10 in the Nationwide standings before the race, finished 11th and 12th, respectively.

Roush Fenway rookies raced well too, as Colin Braun finished 13th and Nationwide Rookie of the Year candidate Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finished 29th.

The next Nationwide Series race will take place in Charlotte on Friday, Oct. 15.
