Darrelle Revis Listed as Probable, Could Be Back for Vikings, Randy Moss on Monday

New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis was listed as “probable” on the Jets’ injury report Saturday, the first time he has been listed as such since the Jets’ Week 2 matchup against the Patriots.

Revis aggravated a preexisting hamstring injury in that game, pulling up lame while attempting to cover former Patriots receiver Randy Moss on a deep route. Moss burned Revis for a 34-yard touchdown grab on the play.

Revis immediately left the game with a Grade 2 hamstring strain, and did not suit up for the Jets in Week 3 or 4.

Revis expressed confidence in his health on Saturday, though, stating he had “no doubt” he could play on Monday if he doesn’t reinjure himself during Sunday’s practice.

“I haven’t had any tweaks when I’ve been out there running the past two practices, and I’ve been running full speed,” Revis told reporters.

At the time of his injury, Revis could at least take solace in that he wouldn’t have to face Moss again until the Jets visited the Patriots on Dec. 6. That small consolation was eliminated Wednesday, however, when the Patriots traded Moss to the Vikings — who the Jets play Monday — for a pair of 2011 draft picks.

The Moss-Revis rematch comes amid a heavily-publicized war of words between the Pro Bowlers. Revis called Moss a “slouch” in an offseason interview, and Moss responded Saturday by saying Revis would learn to respect him “sooner or later.”

The Jets’ pass defense should also get a boost from the return of linebacker Calvin Pace, who plans to play for the first time in the 2010 season on Monday. The Jets’ leading pass rusher in 2009, Pace missed the team’s first four games with a broken foot.
