FOXBORO, Mass. — It’s only been a few days, but Wes Welker has already grown to love himself some Deion Branch, and he has figured out Tom Brady‘s infatuation with Branch, too.
“Tom has talked about [Branch] forever, so I knew about him for a long time and how much he loved having Deion out there,” Welker said. “They seem to have that same connection that they had, and that same chemistry and everything when he was here before. It’s great to have that back and great to have him out there to help us win games.”
Welker also sounded a little appreciative that Branch didn’t try to recoup his old jersey number. And now, with four practices under their belts together, Welker likes the way the offense has adjusted since the trade.
“I think we’ve adjusted real well,” Welker said. “We’ve had a pretty good week of practice, and Deion has really come in and really done well in practice, has picked up the offense really well. A lot of the stuff is the same from when he was here, but a lot of things are different, too. He’s picked it up really well, and we’re glad to have him here.”
