In their seemingly never-ending quest to find some offense, Liverpool has been linked to three more intriguing names as the January transfer window nears.

FC Twente forward Luuk De Jong, Dortmund striker Lucas Barrios, and Preston midfielder Adam Barton have all been cited as possible targets for LFC, according to various reports. All will be looked to assist an offense that has scored just 13 goals through 12 Premier League games this season.

De Jong, 20, will be available for around $3.4 million (£2.5 million) this January, but The People’s report states that Real Zaragoza also has interest in acquiring the young Dutchman.

Barrios, 26, is reportedly valued at nearly $16.5 million (£12 million) and has scored 31 goals in 50 matches for Dortmund. He represents the type of big-name signing that many LFC fans long to see, and the CaughtOffsides article speculates that his physical style of play would make him an excellent compliment to Fernando Torres.

Barton – still only 19 — is one of the youngest players the Reds have been linked to this season. Tribalfootball cites him as “one of the most exciting prospects outside of the Premier League,” and the midfielder has started 11 matches for Preston this season.

Liverpool is just 4-4-5 after their first 15 matches this season, but is expecting to have some financial flexibility in January courtesy of their new NESV owners.
