Michael Vick has worked tirelessly over the past couple of years to rehabilitate his person and image in the wake of his dog-fighting related conviction.

Despite his many appearances speaking out on behalf of animal rights, a large portion of Americans probably aren't yet comfortable with Vick having a dog as a pet. He, however, believes that such would be significant in his continued rehabilitation, according to the New York Post.

"I would love to get another dog in the future. I think it would be a big step for me in the rehabilitation process," Vick said.

The Eagles star also cited his daughter as a reason for wishing to have one of man's best friends.

"I think just to have a pet in my household and to show people that I genuinely care, and my love and my passion for animals; I think it would be outstanding. If I ever have the opportunity again I will never take it for granted. I miss having a dog right now. I wish I could. My daughters miss having one, and that’s the hardest thing: telling them that we can’t have one because of my actions.

"This entire situation has changed my life dramatically. Better player, better person," he concluded.

Vick truly has undergone a positive transformation that has led to many fans to give him their acceptance and adoration. Perhaps, he deserves an opportunity to earn those things from a dog as well.
