The New York Jets secondary is already one of the best in football. At season’s end, it may get even better.

According to ESPN.com, the New York Jets are among the preferred destinations for cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.

Asomugha was recently released after failing to reach incentives with his contract with the Oakland Raiders.

In February of 2009, he signed a three-year, $45.3 million contract, which made him the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history.

Asomugha is considered one of the best cornerbacks in the league, and joining the Jets would add to their talented duo — Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie.
