Rex Ryan Quips That Tom Brady Only ‘Thinks’ He Studies More Than Peyton Manning

Give Rex Ryan credit. While most NFL coaches try hard not to talk any trash in order to prevent the opposing team from gathering material for the bulletin board, the Jets’ coach is managing to talk about a team that he’s not even facing yet.

That team is the New England Patriots, specifically quarterback Tom Brady. When Ryan was discussing Peyton Manning — you know, the guy who happens to be one of the best quarterbacks ever and will be playing against Ryan’s Jets in three days — he managed to take what was seemingly a slight dig at the Patriots’ signal-caller.

Ryan said Manning studies more than any quarterback in the league.

“Nobody studies like this guy,” Ryan said of Manning, according to Kristian Dyer of FoxSports.com. “I know Tom Brady thinks he does. … But it’s Manning.”

It’s not the most inflammatory comment ever uttered, but sometimes you just have to wonder if Rex has any control over what comes out of his mouth.
