There has been no shortage of speculation and hearsay about Japan and CSKA Moscow star Keisuke Honda making the move to Anfield. While such remains insubstantial and Honda’s representatives are worried about the uncertainty at Liverpool, the creative attacker has remained steadfast in his interest in the club — provided he receives an offer.

Rumors had surfaced that Honda and Liverpool had reached a verbal agreement for a transfer, but according to agent Kees Ploegsma, that rumor is not true.

“There is constant speculation surrounding Liverpool, but the real situation is that there is only interest from them, and they have not made a firm offer,” he told sport.co.uk.

One issue that may be hampering the possible transfer is the question of whether or not Roy Hodgson will retain his position as Liverpool manager.

“I don’t know what the situation is at Liverpool.” Ploegsma continued. “Is the manager staying? Are the new owners going to invest as they are struggling in the league? All I know is we have no formal offer, and we have the rest of the window to see what materializes.”

Still, Ploegsma did clarify that Honda is very keen on a move to Liverpool, despite the uncertainty and lack of a formal offer.

“If he could move to a club like Liverpool it would be great, but the two clubs must come to an agreement first,” he explained. “The Premier League is a great competition which he would like to play in.”

Arsenal has also been linked to the pacy attacker and set-piece specialist, but Liverpool are widely considered the favorite to land Honda. He is currently valued at $14 million (9 million pounds).
