Where Did Flyers Head Coach and Franklin, Mass., Native Peter Laviolette Play Collegiate Hockey? Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette has some deep ties to the Bay State.

In the late 1990s, the Franklin, Mass., native took the coaching reins for the Boston Bruins' AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins. After proving his success on the farm, Laviolette was promoted to Boston, where he served as an assistant coach.

Laviolette went to Long Island to coach the Islanders when the Bruins signed Robbie Ftorek as the team's head coach. Since then, he's won a Stanley Cup with Carolina in 2006 and one Eastern Conference title with Philadelphia a year ago.
