Fernando Torres has surely earned the ire of Liverpool supporters with his comments about the club in the wake of his transfer to Chelsea. Former teammate Dirk Kuyt, though, believes that such backlash may be unfair, as Torres is falling victim to a language barrier in expressing himself.

"He explained that it is difficult for him to explain in his second language," Kuyt told Sky Sports.

However, Kuyt, whose play has improved dramatically since Torres' exit, is looking to prove that Torres' main motive for leaving will be baseless.

"He just wants to win trophies now and he believes he has a better chance at Chelsea. We hope he's wrong," he said.

Liverpool's trophy ambitions have in fact looked brighter of late, and Kuyt, like fellow Anfield mainstays Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, attributes such to caretaker manager Kenny Dalglish.

"I am really happy with Kenny. So far it's really positive for us," he said. ""From the first day he came in, he gave us a lot of belief, and he said we were all quality players and he was there to help us and it is really true. He is a legend not only for supporters but also for players and obviously as a player he has helped me as a striker a lot, he is very helpful for me.

"It has worked well with him but also with Steve Clarke, everything looks much better and that is really positive for us."

When asked about whether or not Dalglish should be given the job on a permanent basis, Kuyt was clear in his outlook.

"I think if you only look at the results and mood of the players, I have to agree with that," he remarked.
