Embarrassing injuries, such as Kendry Morales' seaon-ending walkoff grand-slam celebration, became a regular occurrence in baseball in 2010, but it seems that the trend has resurfaced in hockey, as Blackhawks forward Troy Brouwer incurred an impressive one Tuesday night.

In the third period against the Canadiens, Brouwer went in for a hit on Montreal's Lars Eller, but he completely whiffed and ended up crashing into the boards shoulder first.

Brouwer stayed down for quite a while, but he was able to skate off the ice on his own power. Still, he'll be out for Wednesday night's game against the Blues, according to the Chicago Sun Times.

Can this freak injury compare to the greatest of all time, the Bill Gramatica ACL tear?
