With the NFL labor disputes ongoing, Jets linemen D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Mike DeVito have something in common with former strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi
They aren't welcome at the Jets team facility.
Accordingly, they are joining forces, as Ferguson and DeVito are staying in shape during the labor strife by working out in Alosi's garage as he attempts to rehabilitate his career, according to ESPN.
"I wanted to work with a coach that knows how to train NFL players," DeVito said Wednesday. "Every year that I've worked with Sal, I got that much better. I trust him and I buy into his program. I wanted to make sure I stayed on the same track. Sal is the best strength coach I've ever been around."
"He's a good coach, and the players like him," Ferguson's agent, Brad Blank said. "They're working out with him, they're not standing on a sideline with him. What Sal did was wrong, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be able to train players again."
DeVito believes that Alosi, who resigned under pressure as Jets strength and conditioning coach this past January after intentionally tripping a Miami Dolphins player on a kickoff play in December, is doing well in his effort to bounce back from the incident.
"He's showing how strong he is," DeVito said. "Being a Christian guy, he'll become stronger because of these circumstances. Even though there's a storm going on right now, he's growing from it."
