When the Bruins acquired defenseman Tomas Kaberle from the Toronto Maple Leafs prior to the NHL trade deadline, the price was quite high — prospect Joe Colborne, a first-round draft pick and a conditional second-round pick. With the the Bruins' Game 7 victory over the Lightning on Friday night, which punched their ticket to the Stanley Cup Final, one of the conditions of that second-round pick kicked in.

When the Bruins dealt for Kaberle, they agreed to send their second-round pick to the Leafs if he re-signed with the B's or if they advanced to the Stanley Cup Final. On Friday, they ensured that it wouldn't take until the offseason to fully know the extent of the trade.

Kaberle was considered one of the bigger names available at the trade deadline, and the Bruins' ability to land him was met with mostly positive reviews at the time. But Kaberle has struggled to fit into the Bruins' system, although he played well in Games 6 and 7 against the Lightning.

While some may debate how much of an impact Kaberle has had or will have in a B's uniform going forward, Bruins fans are undoubtedly glad that the trade's Stanley Cup condition kicked in.
