Maria Sharapova’s Victory Overshadowed by One Awful Serve (Video)

Just in case dropping the first set to No. 188 Caroline Garcia in the second round of the French Open Thursday wasn’t bad enough, Maria Sharapova added one of the most comically horrific serves for good measure.

After dropping the first set to the 17-year-old Garcia 6-3, things went from bad to worse in the second set for Sharapova. Already trailing 4-1, she sailed a serve that went over 10 feet beyond the back line.

Sharapova would, however, rebound from her sloppy start, taking the next 11 points to win the second and third sets 6-4 and 6-0, respectively. But her struggles — and particularly her less-than-stellar serve — continue to overshadow the eighth-ranked player's second-round victory.
