In 2009, the Philadelphia Eagles surprised the football world when they signed Michael Vick fresh off an almost two-year stint in prison. Now incarcerated wide receiver Plaxico Burress could be on the team's radar.

According to Gary Myers of the New York Daily News, Philadephia will "eventually be first in line" to sign the former Giants wide out, who has been in prison since Sept. 23, 2009 after accidentally shooting himself in the leg with an illegal handgun.

Burress is scheduled to be released from prison on June 6, and Vick told the Philadelphia Daily News that he plans to reach out to Burress and coach him on ways to get his life back on track.

"I hope I can pay him a visit." Vick said. "I just want to reach out to him, talk to him. We have a good relationship . . . just congratulate him on getting through such a tough time, even though it's not the ideal situation, let him know there's plenty of optimism out there for him."

Burress caught 505 passes for 7,845 yards and 55 touchdowns in nine seasons with the Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers, but he also had the reputation as a troublemaker, being fined and suspended on several occasions for disciplinary issues.

The decision by the Eagles to sign Vick proved to be successful, though, as he was named the NFL's comeback player of the year in 2010. The hope is that Burress can have a similar impact.
