With events like Rashard Mendenhall's tweets about Osama bin Laden increasingly common, most owners in sports understandably have mixed feelings about their athletes being active on Twitter.
UFC president Dana White, though,is taking a different angle. He wants his athletes to tweet.
In fact, he's planning on paying them to do so. According to MMAFighting.com, White announced at the UFC Fighter Summit this past week that UFC will be paying its athletes $240,000 a year to use Twitter.
The money will be paid out in quarterly $5,000 bonuses to the fighters gaining the most followers, increasing their followings by the highest percentages and for having the most creative tweets, as deemed by White.
