Jaromir Jagr Close To Decision Regarding Return to NHL

After pondering a return to the NHL in February of 2010, former Pittsburgh Penguins star Jaromir Jagr could make a decision this weekend.

Jagr confirmed with ESPN.com that his agent, Petr Svoboda, has been in contact with some NHL teams, including the Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens. If a team does a take a chance on Jagr, it will most likely be a one-year deal.

The 39-year-old has spent the last three seasons in the Russian K league with the Avangard Omsk where he posted totals of 73 goals and 82 assists in the regular seaon and playoffs combined.

With the retirement of defensemen Brian Rafalski, the Red Wings will reportedly have around $10 million to play with. General manager Ken Holland is excited about the possibility of Jagr's return.

"We have been contacted and we have interest. We're exploring our interest," Holland told ESPN.com Friday.

Jagr played 1273 regular season NHL games and recorded 646 goals, 953 assists and 1599 points. The winger played in 169 playoff games, recording 77 goals, 104 assists and 181 points in the postseason while winning two consecutive Stanley Cups with the Penguins in 1991 and 1992.
