Report: Kemba Walker Inks Shoe Deal With Under Armour

Two weeks after getting drafted ninth overall by the Charlotte Bobcats, Kemba Walker capitalized on his first professional endorsement — a shoe deal.

CNBC.com reports that Walker has agreed to terms with basketball shoe newbies Under Armour on a multi-year shoe contract.

Although Walker was the ninth pick in the 2011 NBA draft, he was one of the most talked about prospects, leading the UConn Huskies to an unprecedented five wins in five nights in the Big East Conference Tournament before leading the Huskies to six straight March Madness victories and a National Championship.

New to the basketball shoe business, Under Armour is searching for NBA spokesmen on par with their other sports, such as football (they have Tom Brady, Ray Lewis and other stars sporting their gear) and baseball (Jose Reyes, Buster Posey among others).

On the court, only Bucks guard Brandon Jennings and Grizzlies guard Greivis Vasquez join Walker as endorsers.

If Walker turns out to be as big of a star in the NBA as he was in college, it could spell a sticky situation if Walker is sporting Under Armour kicks while the King of Basketball Shoes and Bobcats owner Michael Jordan sits idly by.
