Liverpool continues to make noise in the transfer market, however, this time they stayed in-house, signing right-back Glen Johnson to a contract extension.

Liverpool's club website reported the signing, and the length of the deal is unknown. Johnson arrived at Anfield in the summer of 2009 after stints with West Ham, Chelsea and most recently, Portsmouth. Liverpool purchased the English International for £17.5 million, and he's appeared in 70 contests since wearing a red shirt.

One of the most versatile defenders for the Reds the last two seasons, Johnson saw a lot of time in left-back, performing well despite being out of position. Johnson has also been a mainstay on England's national team, being featured prominently as the team's first-choice right-back.

Liverpool has had their sights set on Newcastle left back Jose Enrique to fill the void in the back-four, according to Bloomberg News.
