The Besiktas basketball club received some very good news and some equally bad news on Saturday.

The good news: New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams officially announced that he is heading to Turkey to play for the team until the NBA lockout is over.

The bad news is that the club had its bank accounts frozen because of the Besiktas soccer team's match-fixing scandal. Even more unfortunate is that they were reportedly close to adding NBA superstar Kobe Bryant to their roster, Sporting News reports.

"This soccer scandal came at a bad time for Besitkas. Hearing they feel they were close to signing Kobe Bryant, for 450k per month," tweeted DraftExpress.com's Jonathan Givony.

Besiktas' deputy chairman and soccer coach have already been arrested for their alleged involvement in the match-fixing scandal, which includes the Turkish Cup final against IBB. The club cannot sign any more players during the investigation.
