Method Man famously uttured the saying, "Cash Rules Everything Around Me."

No saying could better depict the issues going on in both the NFL lockout and the NBA lockout, the latter seeing a conflict brewing as to whether the league is making or losing money.

According to reports published by Forbes Magazine, the NBA has lost over $1.5 billion in the last six years when calculating the numbers using net income, contradicting the report by New York Times blogger Nate Silver that says the NBA is making money, using operating income as a barometer.

The major difference between the two is that operating income doesn't take into consideration the deductions caused by interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization.
