I’d be pretty mad if I gave up a single, triple and a double three batters in a row to kick off an inning — but not this mad.
Brad Penny, who was touched up for seven earned runs on nine hits before being removed after just 3 1/3 innings on Thursday, got into an animated exchange of words with his catcher (and fellow former Red Sox), Victor Martinez.
Penny entered the fourth inning down 3-2 and after allowing two runs on three straight hits (a single, triple and a double), Martinez came out to the mound for a word, but Penny wasn’t feeling it and let V-Mart have it.
