Though rumors have swirled as to Alberto Aquilani's possible departure from Liverpool to AC Milan, the midfielder's agent said he and his client have not been contacted by the club for a possible transfer deal.

The 27-year-old was heavily coveted by Italian club Fiorentina, but the Serie A squad failed to get a deal completed last week. Next in line to bid appears to be AC Milan, which could use Aquilani for its own run to a Serie A championship.

Despite hintings from Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani that a deal could be in the works, Aquilani's agent, Franco Zavaglia, said on the team's website that the negotiations have yet to begin.

"At the moment, Milan haven't made a move," Zavaglia said over the weekend. "There have been Galliani's words but no other signals."

Last season, Aquilani played for Juventus on loan, scoring two goals in 34 appearances. Liverpool acquired the midfielder two years ago from Roma for £20 million, and reports suggest the team could unload the Italian for £10 million. Zavaglia, however, declined to go into detail of his client's market value.

"I'm not saying what type of offer my client can get from Milan, whether it is a loan deal or a permanent move," he said. "We will wait."
