Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork played a pretty substantial role in the story that was exposed by a Yahoo! Sports investigation that was released on Tuesday.

According to the report, which detailed numerous alleged violations on the part of former University of Miami booster Nevin Shapiro, Wilfork was given plenty of benefits during his time at Miami.

Most notably, he was reportedly given $50,000 during his junior season to secure Wilfork as a client for Shapiro's agency once Wilfork entered the NFL draft. The tackle also reportedly received thousands of dollars for in-game, on-field bounties.

Shapiro says that he and Wilfork were pretty close, telling Yahoo! Sports that of all of the Hurricanes he provided benefits to, Wilfork "was most like a family member."

According to the report, Wilfork declined comment.

All of the reported benefits received by Wilfork can be seen by viewing his personal page on the Yahoo! Sports report.
