If college basketball player Allan Chaney wants to play college hoops again after sitting out a year because of transferring, it’s going to be at a school other than Virgina Tech.

The school announced Wednesday that it will not medically clear Chaney to play basketball, the Richmond-Times Dispatch reports.

The decision comes over a year after Chaney fainted on the court during a workout at Virginia Tech. In April of 2010, he was diagnosed with viral myocarditis, a disease where the heart muscle suffers from inflammation. It also caused scarring, which continued to trouble Chaney after the virus cleared.

Chaney transferred to Virginia Tech after Florida suspended him for the remainder of his freshman season. While at Florida, the 235-pound forward averaged 3.0 points in 23 games, starting two.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Chaney tweeted that he is considering transferring at a different school to continue playing basketball.
